1.  What happens with the garbage?

The life cycle of waste from placing the cover out of the house, until it reaches the landfill, is detailed in the PPT presentation attached to this mail.
Depending on where you live, the waste are transported towards two transfer stations: one in the north and one in the south.
There the trash is compacted and transferred to the landfill "The Inga", where it is disposed according to technical parameters.

2. It is valid to carry in different bags different plastics, glass and other materials?

It is valid to separate the waste from the source, that is the goal we must reach. To ensure that the waste have an ending in the chain of recycling and not in the Inga landfill, you must do either of the two entries below:

1. Bring your recyclable solid waste to the nearest Green Point.

2. Recongize the Artisan Environmental Manager that runs through your neighborhood looking for garbage and recyclable material to deliver personally.

3. How do you handle recycling?

Recycling means to transform waste into something else, and is a part of a technical process. In Ecuador there are some companies that recycle paper and plastic. What the city takes place, are selective harvesting projects and social inculsion, where, collect the garbage is colleted at a Green Point, then we carry them to a collection center where environmental managers classify, craft and the we proceed to begin the selling process.

4. Where does the trash goes?

The waste is transported to the landfill El Inga, where it is disposed in a technical manner. In the landfill the garbage is compacted and covered with  dirt.

5. Who runs Emaseo?

The Emaseo is headed by General Manager Carlos Sagasti, and has a Board directed by the Mayor of Quito, Dr. Augusto Barrera
